Amar A. Mukhtar, DO

Dr. Mukhtar is a Board Certified Clinical Psychiatrist, who also serves as the Director of Mental and Behavioral Health Services at GBMS. He completed his Psychiatric training at Virginia Commonwealth University. His background includes experience working with Adult and Adolescent patients in the setting of general medication management, psychotherapy, forensic psychiatry and neuropsychiatry. Dr Mukhtar values working in an integrated healthcare model and therefore prioritizes working closely with therapists and collaborative medical specialties. Dr Mukhtar also enjoys working with people from all walks of life and therefore places a high value on multicultural understanding.
